Qwest Router 14 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 14
Had anybody had to replace their builder installed router by any chance? Mine is dying and unfortunately is past the warranty. After being quoted a price of over $150 to replace it, I"m hoping someone has managed to replace theirs for less or have found other options.

You should be able to find a new router at BestBuy between $30 and $200.00 just depending on what your needs are.

I thought I would be able to but when I talked to Qwest they were quite persistant that I go to the builder and get it from them. I don't understand why that would be but I really would prefer not to be paying that much for a new one!
And thank you!

My guess is Qwest gets a kick back if you buy the router from the builder.

I replaced my builder router with a linksys when we moved in 3 years ago and have never had an issue. I'll post the model number when I get home.

We did the same thing. The router the builder used caused so many issues we had no choice.
