Here is a note from our friends who are helping on the International Days in South Jordan….

INTERNATIONAL DAYS in South Jordan is one of only 8 International Folklore Festivals in the entire USA where the featured groups come from overseas. We've been working very hard to provide a week full of wonderful activities for the entire family....ALL FOR FREE! In addition to the CONCERT OF CULTURE, FOLKLORE FUN AT THE DISTRICT AND CULTURAL NEIGHBORHOOD COUNTRY SPOTLIGHT SHOWS, we are announcing the following NEW EVENTS:

.

displays and play games. A large stage will feature performances by local groups and each International Guest group. Free snow cones will also be available to all.
(Dancing WITH the International groups will be held during FOLKLORE FUN at The DISTRICT)

and Hospitality Center. A Swing Dance will begin at 9:00...everyone can join in dancing in the street!!!

.

At every event there will be a "Passport to Fun" drawing for a travel bag full of prizes. There will also be a Top 10 Passport Stamp contest. People can collect stamps in their Passport Program Book throughout the week. The first 10 people to bring their books to the Information Desk at FLAVORS OF THE WORLD showing 15 passport stamps will win Night on The Town packages.

.

In addition to all of this, each group will perform 3 assemblies in local elementary schools.

.

The only way we can have such a rich cultural experience come to our community, is for families to extend hands of fellowship to our international guests by opening their hearts and their homes for six nights. What a wonderful way to give our families the opportunity to learn about a foreign country, make new friends from far-away places and give service. Please help us find hosts for these wonderful groups from the Czech Republic, Ghana and China. Attached is a host family information sheet detailing the host family responsibilities...which is even less than last year. I've also attached a host family form that can be returned to Lia Anderson whose email address is found on the form.

.

SPECIAL HOST FAMILY EVENTS include:

.

North Shore Beach Party on Weds. Aug. 11...bring a picnic lunch and we'll provide watermelons, games, music and a special Polynesian Fire Knife display
Folklore Fun Pot Luck on Fri. Aug. 13.....after Folklore Fun at SoDa Row

.

We're also looking for day hosts and those who could do some simple carpool transfers.
Please help us find community ambassadors.....those who would be willing to welcome foreign guests to their homes which will in turn enable the entire community to have different culture experiences FREE of charge.

.

Thank you for becoming involved!
