Daybreak, not that unique 15 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 12
While reading the lead article about Serenbe on the home page, I felt compelled to comment. Sustainability was part of the reason I chose Daybreak.

I completely support sustainability. I'm please our Federal government has become involved to the level that HUD and DOT recently formed a joint sustainable communities initiative. Sustainability has momentum that can't be stopped.

Sustainable communities sprouted around the world well before Daybreak was a glimmer in Kennecott's balance sheet. Daybreak founders visited several communities based on the same sustainable premise before the DB drawings were put to paper. I've read about and visited several sustainable communities much like our own and I found Daybreak is sorely lacking in comparison.

Kennecott has the right idea, but follow through and delivery is poor. Management of the sustainable aspect at the community level is more marketing than action. Our community wastes water, utilities, and has a contrary idea of how sustainable communities manage the social aspect. On the surface it seems sustainability conflicts with the desire to sell homes.
